St. Mary’s Academy, a private, Catholic, all-girls, college-preparatory school located in downtown Portland, Oregon, seeks a dynamic and experienced Principal for the 2017-2018 academic year.
St. Mary’s Academy was established in 1859 as a Catholic school for young women in the state of Oregon. Sponsored by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, St. Mary’s Academy has continuously provided a Catholic environment that empowers young women and gives them the opportunity, support and inspiration to attain academic excellence and leadership qualities and to deepen their own faith commitment and be actively involved citizens of the world.
St. Mary’s Academy is a thriving high school of 720 young women of diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds. St. Mary’s is renowned for its superior college preparatory program, the integration of technology to support instruction and a strong commitment to community service. Co-curricular and other student activities include campus ministry and service, a competitive athletic program and a wide variety of clubs and student organizations.
The Principal is the chief educational leader of the school and is responsible for leadership of the school’s educational programs in accord with the school’s Catholic identity, philosophy and vision. The Principal is directly responsible for all student programs, including curriculum, co-curricular activities, student services and student-parent-faculty relationships. Appointed by and reporting to the President, the Principal will work closely with her in developing the school climate, relating to the community and strategic planning.
The successful candidate will demonstrate outstanding planning, collaboration and communication skills, as well as excellent administration and leadership of faculty, curriculum, and student affairs in the tradition of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, and the strategic growth plan of the school.
Interested candidates must be practicing Catholics and have a commitment to Catholic secondary education for young women, recent successful experience in educational administration, and an administrative credential.
